Archaeological Zone

One of the most spectacular cultural projects in Cologne is presently taking shape - the Archaeological Zone and the Jewish Museum on and beneath the town-hall square. The City of Cologne and the regional government are creating a new exhibition area measuring roughly 7,000 m2  within the framework of the Regionale 2010 show. Visitors will have the opportunity of seeing monuments from the last two millennia at their original site. These include the impressive ruins of the Roman governor's palace and the fragile remains of one of the most important Jewish quarters in Europe.

Waterfall

A waterfall in the Stadtgarten, one of Cologne's public gardens, surrounded by a little jungle. A lovely place to relax! Due to the lack of rain over the past weeks there isn't a lot of water running down here currently.

The Chamber of Bones

The 'Golden Chamber' - colloquially referred to as the 'Chamber of Bones' - can be found in St. Ursulas's Church near Cologne's central station. In this chamber about 120 busts of Christian martyrs are on display, and the walls are covered with human bones which were found in a grave underneath the church in the 12th century. According to the legend, they belong to St. Ursula and her 11,000 companions.
